Dump Station Tips

  • Use a shorter sewer hose to make handling easier.
  • Carry a garden hose for rinsing in case the dump station doesn't have one.
  • NEVER use your fresh water hose for rinsing sewer hoses or the dump area.
  • Don't touch the outside of your protective gloves.
  • Store fresh-water and garden hoses in separate areas.
  • Don't dump the black-water tank until it is at least two-thirds full.
  • Never leave the black-water tank valve open when hooked up at a campground. Liquids will drain, leaving solids to harden on the bottom of the tank.
  • Gray-water tank valves may be left open when hooked up at a campground.
  • Place sewer hoses so flow restrictions are minimized. Use hose supports to slope properly.
  • Use heavy-duty sewer hoses. They are the ONLY hoses that will hold up under RV use.
  • If others are waiting to use the dump station, skip the tank flushing and hose rinsing steps. Pull away, then add your tank chemical.
  • Never put anything other than black and gray water into a sewer drain.
  • Leave the dump station area cleaner than you found it.
